SDP 6: Mutual Funds in India: Concepts, Structures, and Regulatory Framework
Date: 25th June 2025 | Speaker: Mr. Amit Trivedi, Adjunct Faculty – NISM
This session provided participants with a comprehensive understanding of mutual funds, their structure, and significance in the Indian financial ecosystem. Mr. Amit Trivedi explained the concept and role of mutual funds in mobilizing retail investments and promoting financial inclusion.
Participants were introduced to the regulatory framework governing mutual funds, with a focus on SEBI’s role in ensuring transparency and investor protection. Key operational concepts such as Net Asset Value (NAV), Total Expense Ratio (TER), and pricing of units were clearly explained, helping students understand how mutual fund units are valued and managed.
The session also covered methods to evaluate mutual fund scheme performance, including return measures, risk-adjusted returns, and selection criteria.
